LIPSTICK (686c) (Inbred Lactiflora x Miss America) Full double, medium height, good foliage, red markings suggest the name. Registered by Samuel E. Wissing, Lombard, Illinois. Bulletin #182 September 1966.

LOIS ARLEEN (Moots 1962) SD to D.M. Deep pink hybrid. Parentage; or X Rose Shaylor x Lobata Sunbeam. Semi-double, tall, midseason, holds color, heavy stems. Bulletin #153 June 1959.

LOIS QUISENBERRY (Murawska 1962) D.E. Dark pink. Parentage. Mons. Jules Elie x dark pink seedling of Mons. Jules Elie. Dwarf in height, large globular flower, darker than parent, orange shading throughout flower, slight fragrance. Bears the maiden name of that gracious lady, Mrs. Roy C. Gayle, Rockford, Illinois. Bulletin #167 December 1962.

LOVE LEE (Edward F. Hurby) Large, double rose type. Pink with inner petals, lilac pink. Blooms late. Bulletin #179.

LOVELY LOUISE (Murawska 1962) Parentage: Marie Crousse x Mrs. Livingston Ferrand. D.M. Light pink. Large double, wiry stems holds flower in all weather conditions. Shadings of the rainbow. Named for the lovely Mrs. A. L. Murawska. Registered by the originator, A. L. Murawska. Bulletin #167 December 1962.

LULLABY - Roy Pehrson, Lafayette, Minnesota 1973. Moon of Nippon x Laura Magnuson. Blush fading white. No stamens or carpels. Large, full double, tall (47") very dense, dark green foliage, glossy. Showmans peony. Bulletin #208 December 1973.

MADYLONE (Neal R. Van Loon, Sun Prairie Wisconsin) Lactiflora, late, full double, Le France pink. Parents Mme. Jules Dessert x White Perfection. Cross made in 1940. Extra large in all parts: plant, leaf, stem, bud and flower. Bulletin #183 December 1966.

MAHASKA (Willis J. Smith, Ottumwa, Iowa 1972) (4-41) Dark maroon, semi-double strong stems, medium early. Does not fade in sunlight. Seedling of Mons. Martin Cahuzac. Bulletin #201 March 1972.

MAJOR A. M. KREKLER (Johnson-Krekler 1957) D. LM. White. Originated by John M. Johnson, Liberty, Indiana. Stock purchased by Wm. Krekler. Large, white, full double. Strong stems. Tall (4 foot), late, midseason. Named for brother of Mr. Krekler, who was a tank Major, serving in Africa, Europe and Korea. Bulletin #143 December 1956.

MARCIA LEE (Nicholls-Wild & Son 1958) (N 969) D.M. Pink large crown type, pink, creamy petaloids at base of bomb. No stamens. Stems stiff and strong. Registered Gilbert H. Wild & Son. Bulletin #157 December 1957.

MARION (Krekler 1962) S.M.R. Midseason, single, darker than L'Etincelante, medium height. Bulletin #166 September 1962.

MARJORIE HORRELL (Bockstoce 1961) D.E. Hybrid. Parentage: Officinalis x lactiflora. Double, rose center, early, bright pink. Bulletin #163 December 1961.

MATADOR (Jones 1957) (57) J.M. Ruby red. Petals ruby red, staminodes paler red, tipped darker. Japanese type. Bulletin #150 September 1958.

MATALIE CLAYTON (Nicholls-Wild & Son 1958) (N904) D.M. Pink. Compact bomb type rose pink, light fragrance, no stamens, strong stem. Bulletin #157 December 1957.

MAY MUSIC (A. P. Saunders) (16209) Hybrid, Apricot buff with crimson flares. Single. Parentage: Quadruple hybrid. 36" height, early, deep green foliage, not especially fertile as pod and pollen parent. Excellent substance. Registered by David Reath, June 30, 1973. Bulletin #208 December 1973.

MAXINE PALMER (Nicholls-Wild & Son 1958) (N 952) D.L. White rose type. When first opened the blossoms have a faint tinge of pink, with age fades to white. Yellow glow at base of petaloids. Sepals are red striped. Stiff stems. Registered by Gilbert H. Wild & Son. Bulletin #157 December 1957.

MERCEDES (Lins 1956) D.L.M. Blush pink (M-L-96-B) Large full double blush pink, deepening toward the center. Good stems. Heavy substance. Winner of American Home Achievement Medal at Minneapolis 1956. Opens late midseason. Bulletin #143 December 1965.
