RIGOLOTO (Doriat, 1930) - Sometimes spelled Rigolote or Rigolette. Jap. - Red. Very deep red, with red-pink tufted center; very full, outstanding. Chautauqua Flowerfield. Mr. Peyton says these three are the same.

RINHOSEN (Origin unknown) Jap. - Purplish Pink - Midseason.

RINOKINO (Origin unknown) Probably KINO-KIMO. Jap. - Crimson-Carmine - Midseason.

RIO GRANDE (Nieruwenhuizen, 1935) - Double - Dark Red - Midseason. 36" high. Straight and erect. Dark green foliage. Double, intermingled with few stamens almost entirely concealed. Color uniform, shiny dark red which does not fade. Bulletin 61.

RITA (Dessert, 1922) - Double - Pink - Late. Fairly fragrant. Large. A cupped flower, flat and saucer-like at first, dark rose-pink outside and flesh-pink or flesh-white within, prominent red marks or stripes on edges of some center petals; opens to more rounded form with a rose-like center showing stamens; fairly fragrant. M.

RIVER MIST (Kelsey, 1936) - Double - White - Late Midseason. Quite tall. Fragrant. Medium size ivory white. Edges of central petals marked with fine wire edges of carmine. This color, not like occasional splashes of red on Festiva Maxima, is a circular pattern that is on all blooms. The wire edge is fine and is an intense red. Those who like red on white will delight with this variety. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 109.

ROBERTA (Auten, 1936) - Jap. - White - Late or Midseason. Very tall. Pure white, with yellow staminodes. Bulletin 65.

ROBERT E. LEE (Brand, 1928) - Double - White - Late. Pure white of excellent form. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 130.

ROBERT LEE DAVIS (Vories, 1924) - Double - Pink - Midseason. Large. A rather flat, loose flower of soft light pink. Midseason.

ROBERT W. AUTEN (Auten, 1948) - Semi-Double - Red - Hybrid. Tall. A large high built semi-double, with stamens hidden. Very dark red, entirely free from purple; fine substance. Stiff stems. A most outstanding double hybrid and one of unbelieveable beauty. Officinalis x albiflora. List in Bulletin 129 - Wild catalog.

ROBIN HOOD (Auten, 1939) - Semi-Double - Red - Midseason. Very trim cupped bright red. Erect. Almost single. Bulletin 80.

ROCHESTER (Brand, 1939) Now named R. A. NAPIER. List in Bulletin 91.

ROMEO (Rosenfield, 1934) - Single - Red - Early. Tall. Two rows clear bright red petals with center of yellow stamens. Erect. Very early. The first to bloom. Bulletin 56.

ROSA (Origin unknown) Jap. - Pink - Midseason.

ROSABEL (Sass, 1937) - Double - Red - Midseason. Large, perfect flowers of real rose-red. Strong stems. Blooms freely. Bulletin 69.

ROSA BONHEUR (Dessert, 1905) - Double - Pink - Late. Medium height. Rose scented. Very large. Old-rose pink with a glowing suffusion deep in its symmetrical center, and a few lines and marks of red. Fairly floriferous. Stout stems. Good foliage. M.

ROSADA (Nicholls, 1942) - Double - Pink - Late Midseason. Tall. Double, rose type with wide petals. Very large. Rose pink of medium depth. Robust in growth with strong stems and good substance. Does not fade. Reliable bloomer. Bulletin 87.

ROSALBA (Saunders, 1941) Formerly SPRING SONG. Single - Creamy Salmon - Hybrid. Albiflora x Otto Froebel. List in Bulletin 129.

ROSALIE (Auten, 1927) - Double - Red - Midseason. Dwarf. Double type, medium size. Similar in color to American Beauty rose. Stamens well hidden. M. Bulletin 30.

ROSALIND (Crawford, 1922) - Double - Lilac-Rose - Midseason.

ROSALIND - Syn. KASANE-JISHI - Jap. - Midseason.

ROSALITA (Hollis, 1907) - Double - Violet-Rose - Midseason.

ROSAMOND (Lewis, 1922) - Double - Rose-Pink. Medium height. Fragrant. Large. A loose flower of clear, rose-pink. A strong grower. M.

ROSANNA (Guille) - Bulletin 125, page 24.

ROSANNA SHRADER (Shrader, 1940) - Double - Rose-Pink - Midseason. 48" stems. No fragrance. Planted seed 1926, first bloom in 1930. Color, blend of rose pink. Double rose type showing yellow stamens. Vigorous grower, sturdy and strong. Very large and lasting. Foliage dark green. Bulletin 81.

ROSAUREA (Brown, 1952) - Jap. - Pink. A very striking two-toned Jap, with center petaloids of a lovely straw color. Outer petals bright pink, making a very noticeable contrast. Brown's Peony Gardens - 1955.

ROSE BEAUTY (Richmond, 1949) - Double - Old-Rose Pink - Late. Tall. The big, rose type flowers have large, broad petals of deep old rose that usually develop a silvery border as the flower ages. The foliage is dark green and narrow. The stems are tall, extra long and good. The petals have a durable quality that makes a grant cut flower, keeping well. Bulletin 128.

ROSE BOWL (Keagey, 1946) - Single - Light Pink - Midseason. Fairly tall. A distinctive large-flowered single, with pale pink guards which turn white. The carpels are smooth, pale green, with pink stigmas. The stems are green and fairly tall. It has a very definite embossed waxiness about its petals, which keep folded into characteristic shape for a long time. It develops a delightful twist as it unfolds and matures, but the petals never fold back even in strong sunlight. Its name is suggested by having seen the blooms, rose bowl in shape, holding rain with stamens and stigmas appearing to float on the surface. Bulletin 101.
