First edition. Steven Blankaart (1650-1704) studied medicine and philosophy at the University of Franeker and settled in Amsterdam where he soon became a famous physician. He wrote quite a number of medical works. The present work is illustrated with charming engraved plates showing the plants against an architectural or landscape background very much in the style of Munting's works. Title-page mounted, New York Horticultural Society, bookplate on verso of title.
