RED CROSS (Hollis, 1904) - Double - Red - DISCARDED - Midseason.

RED CROWN (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Red - Late - DISCARDED. Tall. A rich red Jap, medium sized bloom, center petaloids extra wide, with typical golden edges. Very distinct. Stiff stems. Bulletin 47. List in Bulletin 91.

RED DANDY (Auten, 1951) - Double - Red - Early - Hybrid. Very large dark red bomb, like a round ball. No other kind like it. Full petalled, opens easily. Very outstanding. Officinalis x albiflora. List in Bulletin 129. Letter from Mr. Auten.

RED DAWN (Kelway, 1929) - Semi-Double - Red. Dark maroon red. Bulletin 38.

RED DELIGHT (Glasscock, 1928) - Double - Light Red - Very Late. Rose fragrance. Rose type bloom of large size. Guards, collar and petals light red. Shorter petals toward the center. Form of bud, round. Stem stiff to medium. Foliage medium dark green. Cup shaped bloom. Bulletin 35.

RED ELIE (Winchell, 1948) - Double - Red - Midseason. Seedling No. 10 CJ. Parentage not given. Double red same type as Blanche Elie. Stems strong. Bulletin 112.

RED EMPEROR (Auten, 1931) - Jap. - Red - Midseason. Medium height. Very large bright red like Mikado, but with fuller center. Fades at last, but is much admired. A mature plant making fine effect. Stiff stems. Bulletin 47.

RED ENSIGN (Auten, 1940) - Semi-Double - Red - Late - Hybrid. Very dark red, brilliant and glossy. Medium to small bloom held gracefully above trim dwarf foliage. Officinalis x albiflora. Bulletin 80. List in Bulletin 129.

RED FEATHERS (Jones, 1941) - Double - Red - Late Midseason. Tall. Bright red, with unique petal arrangement. Globular in shape. Late midseason. Bulletin 83.

RED GIANT (Glasscock, 1939) - Double - Red - Midseason. Tall. Very large dark rich red. Bulletin 76.

RED GLORY (Auten, 1937) - Semi-Double - Red - Very Early - Hybrid. Tall. Rich, brilliant uniform dark red. Very large. A very large "five layered" single. Officinalis x albiflora. Bulletin 69.

RED GODDESS (Brand, 1940) - Semi-Double - Red - Late Midseason. A medium sized, semi-double red with two rows of petals enclosing an intense yellow center. The form of the flower attracts the eye and you are held spellbound by the beauty and richness of the coloring. An intense, deep, rich velvety crimson. We consider this a real addition to our list of semi-double red peonies. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 130. Brand 1955 catalog.

RED HARMONY (Freeborn, 1941) - Single - Red. Large, deep crimson Chinensis single, with filaments and stigmas matching the satin-cupped petals. Foliage and stems good. Bulletin 82

RED JACKET (Crawford, 1922) - Single - Ruby-Red - Midseason.

RED JACKET (Krekler, 1955) - Double - Single - Red - Early. (Mr. Krekler says single.) (Bulletin says double.) Stems about 20". Average size rich, dark red. Double row of petals, forming a half-circle bowl. Small, compact cluster of stamens. Carpels white, tipped rosy pink. Stems slender, sparsely foliated. Blooms with Therese. Bulletin 138.

REDKEY (Smith-Krekler, 1953) - Single - Black-Red - Early. Good height. This exceptionally dark black-red single is of good height with good stems. Its color is darker than most black reds. Bulletin 130.

REDKEY (Jones) - Double - Red - Late. Intermixed stamens. No. 62. Jones 1955 catalog.

RED KNIGHT (Ward-Lewis, 1924) - Double - Red - Midseason.

RED LACQUER (Saunders, 1950) - Single - Scarlet - Hybrid. Albiflora x lobata, second generation. List in Bulletin 129. Miss Saunders letter, 1955.


RED MONARCH (Auten-Glasscock, 1937) - Double - Red - Hybrid. Tall. A beautifully proportioned red bomb. Red with slight purplish cast. A strong grower. Stiff stems. Albiflora x Officinalis. Bulletin 69 - List in 129.

RED QUEEN (Kelway) - Single - Crimson - Midseason.

RED RED ROSE (Saunders, 1942) - Semi-Double - Red - Hybrid. Brilliant satin rounded bloom of intense crimson scarlet. Brightest crimson scarlet bomb. Albiflora x lobata. Lists in Bulletins 91 and 129. Saunders 1955 catalog.

RED ROCKET (Arthur Wild) - Double - Red. Tall. A free bloomer on tall stems. Bulletin 135, page 10,

RED SATIN (Sass, 1937) - Double - Red - Late Midseason. A true derise. Flower full rose type, good stems, blooms freely and most dependable. Color very unusual in peonies. Bulletin 69.

RED SIGNAL (Freeborn, 1941) - Single - Red - Hybrid. Brilliant, scarlet single. Large firm petals with matching filaments and stigmas. Foliage distinctive, drooping to the ground. Stems upright. Officinalis hybrid. Bulletin 82.

RED SPLENDOR (Mann-van Steen, 1936) - Jap. - Red. Medium height. Seedling No. 428. Very fine red Jap, distinctive color, center same marginal yellow, with the strongest stem of any Jap I know of. One of the best Red Japs. Bulletin 64.

RED STAR (Nicholls, 1941) - Jap. - Red - Midseason. Tall. Petals and staminodes are deep, brilliant, carrying vermilion, the staminodes tipped with gold. Carpels deep vermilion. Over-lapping petals. Strong and free bloomer. Bulletin 83.

RED TOP (Schneider) Probably 1933. Double - Red - Midseason. Medium sized light red. List in Bulletin 91.

RED TRIUMPH (Pfeiffer) Now PFEIFFER'S RED TRIUMPH. Bulletin 68, page 46. List in Bulletin 91.

RED VELVET (Auten, 1945) - Single - Red - Late. Two rows of petals, which stay nicely cupped even in adverse weather. Velvety dark red, color does not fade. Stiff stems. A most impressive variety which customers buy on sight. Auten's 1955 catalog and letter.
