Paeonia 'Saunders F2B' (Saunders #16718)

type: [tree peony] – [lutea hybrid]

no, unnamed hybrid, parent-plant for further hybrids, this plant is one of the two fertile F2-hybrids of Saunder's Luteas.

APS Bulletin 187, December 1967 "Introducing Nassos Daphnis"

"It took 20 years before these plants were ready to go on the market, eight years for the first blossom and twelve years to create enough stock. After 1949, for three years I was in Europe traveling and studying art, and in 1953 the work began again. This time when I came back Mr Gratwick had most of Dr. Saunders’ hybrids, mostly F¹s, but also two F²s that Dr. Saunders managed to grow. These were ”A F²” (Saunders No. 12788) and ”B F²” (Saunders No. 16718)."
