P. hybrida, Pall . Bot. Mag.,xiv.,t.l208.— Not stoloniferous. Leaves about six, the lower long, about half the length of stem; segments linear-lanceolate. Flowers stalked above the leaves ; petals dark crimson. Not a hybrid. Native of grassy places in the promontory of the Caucasus, especially near Stauropolis; rare in Tauria. P. laciniata, Willd., according to Bieberstein.

P.hybrida Pall. -Hybrid or steppe-peony

Grows on steppe-meadows and clearings of rocky slopes in western Siberia and in mountainous regions of Middle Asia. Stems 50-80cm, 1 flower per stem. Leaf segments 3-times triple divided or feathery divided. Flowers in diameter to 8cm, purple or rose-coloured.
